Fake Eagle’s Claw – Desmos Chinensis

Love these seemingly ghostly paws hanging off the branches of the Desmos Chinensis, which has no common English name but is known by the appropriate moniker, Fake Eagle’s Claw, in Hong Kong.

From the photos, it’s easy to see the reason for its Chinese name.

Interesting enough, the small tree is not cultivated as a decorative specie, but rather as a shade tree in cities such as Bangkok due to its thin trunk delivering a lush wide crown.
